Zero Spill System (ZSS)

The Zero Spill System was designed in response to industry feedback, regulatory concerns and environmental stewards demanding an easier efficient and safe way to contain production fluids and drilling fluids, from releasing into the natural environment. With these systems in place, Katch Kan has been able to prove tangible results regarding environmental performance.

SPLASH GUARD

Problem:

  • Unprotected rotary table causes work floor personnel injuries & negative environmental impacts
  • Dangerous, unsafe ’Homemade’ solutions

Solution:

A fully encompassing flexible guard that contains drilling fluid; allowing it to drain through the slips and be captured by the Upper Katch Kan

SURFACE JUNK BASKET AND WINDOW STRIPPER

Problem:

  • Lost tools down annulus leading to un-ucheduled tripping to remove objects (Increase in chance of slip/sprain/strain/crush injuries).
  • Economic loss due to decreased time-efficiency

Solution:

  • In combination with the Window Stripper and Upper Katch Kan, the Surface Junk Basket keeps foreign objects (like lost tools) from going down the annulus.
  • A stripper that not only strips fluid off the drill pipe and re-directs it into the flow nipple, as well as Upper Katch Kan™, but prevents tools going down annulus and allows for bi-directional fluid movement (great under kick conditions)

UPPER AND LOWER KATCHKAN

Problem:

  • Loss of valuable drilling fluid on sub-structure
  • Blowout potential caused by loss of drilling fluid
  • Fluid loss due to rotating heads/under-balanced drilling
  • Negative environmental impact from drilling fluid discharge.
  • Increased operational cost to replace lost drilling fluid (especially oil based).
  • Increased potential of kick turning to blowout.
  • Ineffective Homemade Solutions

Solution:

  • Tray that receives and contains fluids for re-direction back into the flow nipple.
  • A lower collection tray that works in conjunction with the Adjustable Containment Enclosure and Upper Katch Kan to catch fluids escaping through the work floor.
  • No Tools Required.
  • Fits in tight spaces
  • Works with rotating head

ADJUSTABLE CONTAINMENT ENCLOSURE (ACE)

Problem:

  • Negative environmental impact from uncontrolled drilling fluid discharge.
  • Open sub-structure allows the wind to blow drilling fluid around location (especially offshore).
  • Ineffective Homemade Solutions

Solution:

  • An enclosure device attached to the Low Profile Katch Kan that contains fluids escaping through the work floor
